Frequently Asked Questions
Every request to any endpoint (/api/search, /api/article) counts as one API call against your monthly quota. Requests that return a 4xx or 5xx status do not consume your quota.
Upgrades are self-serve and take effect immediately, prorated. For a downgrade, email support@freightapis.dev — it takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle, and fees already paid are not refunded. Your accumulated call count is preserved either way.
Annual plans get the same monthly API quota as the equivalent monthly plan — it refreshes every month of your annual term. Annual billing changes how often you pay (once, up front, at a 17% discount), not how many calls you get per month. It is not a single pooled yearly allowance, and unused calls do not roll over between months.
Yes. Switching from monthly to annual takes effect immediately: the unused remainder of your current month is credited against the annual price, you are charged the difference, and your renewal date resets to that day. To switch from annual back to monthly, email support@freightapis.dev — the change is scheduled for the end of your current annual term, and the annual fee already paid is not refunded.
No. All payments are final and non-refundable, including monthly fees, annual fees, and top-up packs, whether or not the calls have been used. Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund the current term. We offer a Free plan so you can evaluate the API before you buy — please use it. See our Terms of Service for full details.
Free and Pro plans will receive a 429 Too Many Requests response once the quota is exceeded. You can upgrade at any time to restore access without waiting for the next billing period.
NMFC classification data is updated whenever NMFC publishes official amendments through the ClassIT+ program. Our API reflects the current effective classification rules.
Use the Free plan. It needs no credit card, never expires, and gives you real API access to every carrier and port endpoint so you can build and test against live data. Upgrade only when you need the higher quota or the Pro-only NMFC lookup API.
